This is a telemetry bench for Assetto Corsa. It records what the car actually did — wheel loads, suspension travel, camber, roll, pitch, slip, temperatures, and where on the circuit each of those happened — and plays it back beside a physical model of the same car, so you can see where the model and the game agree and where they part company. The interesting output is the disagreement.
Getting laps in
- From AC's own logs. With telemetry logging on, every stint lands in
Documents/Assetto Corsa/telemetryas MoTeC.ldfiles. Drop the folder (or a zip of it) on the sidebar, or use Import. - Live. With this running on the machine that runs AC, the Live tab attaches to AC's shared memory at 100 Hz and one button records the session.
Looking at a lap
- Pick a session and a lap. Playback runs the whole session from lap 1 to the flag; the lap bar steps between laps and the repeat control decides what happens at the end.
- The 3-D view puts the car in its recorded attitude with the suspension linkage moving. Two arrows show where the front wheels are pointed and where the forces are actually taking the car — they split under understeer.
- The track map draws the driven line as a guide: colour for brake, coast or power, thickness for speed, and a rail alongside for under- or oversteer. Add the average of your laps, the composite potential line, or the line AC's own AI drives.
- The graphs put AC's channels against the model's, sharing one cursor with the map and the car.
- The incident log lists what the telemetry flagged, stamped with the lap time where it happened and how long it lasted.
The model
Setups are seeded from Assetto Corsa's own car files — mass, wheelbase, track, weight distribution, spring and anti-roll rates, dampers, tyre grip and load sensitivity, aero, gearing — and can be fitted to a lap from the telemetry instead. Change a setup and Try on this lap replays the lap through both versions on the same line and speed, so you can see what the change would have done to roll, load transfer, travel and camber.
It is a calibration tool, not an oracle. The quasi-static model is planar and knows nothing about transients, and the forward model that integrates a lap from the pedals is not yet accurate enough to quote a lap time — so it refuses to, and shows you how far off it is instead.
